The BBN Placement Process

UNDERSTANDING YOUR NEEDS

Beach Baby Nannies carefully listens to your requirements, then will assess each family’s needs and the environment in which their nanny will function. Due to our experience we also advise on scheduling and help define the candidate’s role within the family.

MATCHING CANDIDATES & FAMILIES

Beach Baby Nannies does a specific search and selection to find appropriate candidates who match the family’s requirements. We always do reference and documentation check, a complete background check, and will share our interview notes with you so you can better understand the quality & personality of each candidate we introduce. You need to let us know which candidates you would like to interview yourself.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BACKGROUND & REFERENCE CHECKS

As part of our screening process, Beach Baby Nannies conducts the following background checks at or prior to the time a permanent offer is made and accepted. Background checks (other than Trustline, see below) typically take 2 to 4 business days to complete.

TRUSTLINE

In addition, Beach Baby Nannies arranges to have each childcare candidate fingerprinted and make their application to be registered with Trustline. Trustline is a state-mandated registry of in-home childcare caregivers that have cleared criminal background checks in California. We will arrange to have the candidate fingerprinted and submit their Trustline application to the Department of Social Services for registry when the candidate is hired in a position. Trustline typically takes four to six weeks to return results.

INTERVIEWING CANDIDATES

We first start our interviews with a Zoom video call that we set up for you, then an in-person interview or working interview/trial.

TRIAL PERIODS

A trial period is an excellent gauge as to how well you, your family and your new hire will mesh together. Even though a candidate may be perfect on paper sometimes the chemistry isn’t quite right which is something that can only be experienced through a trial period. Our trial periods last between 1-5 days long and several hours at length.

CREATING A FAMILY-EMPLOYEE WORK CONTRACT: The Importance of a Nanny Contract

A mutually agreed upon contract between you and your nanny keeps everyone on the same page and considerably decreases the chances of disagreements or turmoil in the future. It is important that your nanny knows exactly what is expected of them and what their benefits are as well. If everyone is in agreement you’re much more likely to have a harmonious relationship with your nanny.

FOLLOWING UP (Human Resources support!)

This final step is very important and makes our approach unique. After placement of our candidate, we contact both family and our candidate to assess the working relationship. We offer post-placement support so whatever your concerns, we will be always here to help you. We also introduce our nannies to others in her area, creating support groups where they can meet other nannies.
